2012 preliminary information

The fifth Festival, which includes three guests, is from Thursday 19 – Sunday 22 April 2012.  As ever, it features a wealth of chamber music and song including gems of the repertoire juxtaposed against possibly less well known pieces which we believe are very worthy of exploration. There are six concerts, a masterclass for talented local musicians, outreach work with local schools, and for the first time, pre-concert talks. Most festival events take place at the welcoming Discovery Centre in the heart of the city, with others in the lovely ambience of St Lawrence and St Paul’s Churches.

We are delighted to hear from audience members that as well as the music, a treasured feature of the Festival  is its informality and intimacy. This includes musicians  introducing some of the performances, attenders chatting with us before the concert, in interval breaks and over a drink at the nearby Festival Club. We are building on this even further for 2012 by featuring an open rehearsal.

Tickets on sale from the Discovery Centre from  January 2012, with priority booking for Friends of the Festival. Full Festival programme details will be posted here later in the autumn
