firefly burning

‘the music is so utterly hypnotic…firefly are intoxicating, beautiful and affirming’ ~ Matchbox Magazine

firefly burning

Firefly Burning is an East London collective born out a series of chance musical encounters. Bea Hankey (voice), John Barber (piano, Javanese gender), Sam Glazer (cello) James Redwood (violin) and Jack Ross (guitar/percussion) create music that is both esoteric and accessible, and free and carefully crafted. An eclecticism embracing Sufjan Stevens’ wonky but unadulterated pop and the post-minimalism of John Adams, the close harmonies, intricate rhythms and intimate atmosphere of Firefly Burning’s music repays close attention. In debut album Lightships, shades of Debussy and William Byrd vie with eastern textures to capture their hypnotic live performances.
