Laurène Durantel is an artist who wants to make the most of the variety of different voices and timbres of this incredible instrument.

Diplomed from the Conservatoire National Superieur de Paris in the class of Jean Paul Celea, she is as well a student of pianist Denis Pascal, and double bassists Daniel Marillier and Philippe Noharet.

In 2003 she founds the “Academie de contrebasse” with bassists Nicolas Charron and Mathieu Petit , then the school “ L’Un L’Autre”  in 2012. In 2012 she joins  Scherzando, “the other school of piano”, run by Beatrice Martin.

From 2009 until 2011 she is a teacher at the National Conservatoire of Toulouse.

First soloist in the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, she now is a member of Ensemble 360°, main chamber music ensemble of the Music in the Round company, based in the Crucible Theater, Sheffield.

She pays regularly with Denis Pascal, Paul Meyer, Emmanuel Pahud, Elias Quartet, Quatuor Ebene, Valentin Erben, François Salque….

She is a member of Ensemble TM+, with composer Laurent Cuniot, Ensemble Variances, with composer Thierry Pécou,  Les Dissonances, with violinist David Grimal . Until 2011 she is a member of Ensemble Carpe Diem, with French oboist Jean-Pierre Arnaud.

She records two albums of concertante Giovanni Bottesini works on Polymnie label.  She records on Universal Label with Ensemble 360, and Supraphon label with Skampa quartet.

Laurene is laureate Juventus 2013.

She plays a Demeyere double bass, and a Barthe bow.
