Lucy Gould founded the Gould Piano Trio whilst studying at the Royal Academy of Music, where she was awarded the prestigious Queen’s Commendation for Excellence. As member of the Gould Piano Trio she has given many concerts over the past twenty years, which have taken her far and wide; she has also made numerous recordings. The final disc of Brahms Trios was recently released to glowing reviews, as were the recordings of Ireland, Schubert and Messiaen. Lucy has performed much of the concerto repertoire with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Bournemouth Sinfonietta and the English String Orchestra. She has been invited to lead the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, the Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, BBC NOW, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Ulster Orchestra. She is principal second violin of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Lucy lives in Cardiff with husband, clarinettist Robert Plane and their three children, Florence, Rufus and Iris and teaches at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Lucy performed with the London Bridge Ensemble at the October fundraiser and is delighted to return for the main festival. Lucy’s passion for music was fuelled by her five years in the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra in which she and Kate both played. Many hours were spent singing or playing through entire symphonies minus all the other parts! Lucy attended the Hampshire Specialist Music course at Peter Symonds College which was a crucial preparation for her time at the Royal Academy of Music.
