Winchester gets its very own chamber music festival with this weekend of top-class concerts in the intimate setting of the city’s historic Milner Hall.
Performed by the London Bridge Ensemble, one of Britain’s most exciting and brilliant chamber groups, the Festival features a sparkling programme of chamber music and song, as well as a masterclass featuring local music groups.
Kate Gould, Co-director of the Festival, and the Ensemble’s cellist, was born in Winchester and received her early music education in the city.
Kate says: “ It’s a great pleasure to bring the London Bridge Ensemble to my home town for this weekend of music making, and to invite local schools to take part in our public masterclass.
“ The Ensemble’s name represents our passion for bringing together different musical genres and styles, for example chamber music and song, as we are doing in the Festival. It’s also a reflection of our admiration for the music of Frank Bridge, some of whose music we are featuring in our programme.”
