Welcome to the seventh Winchester Chamber Music Festival. We have four wonderful days of chamber music lined up for you in the heart of this historic city. At our 2014 Festival we will celebrate the music of German greats Beethoven, Brahms and Schumann alongside the Russian school.
We are delighted to have the young prize-winning Heath Quartet joining us for the 2014 Festival as well as special guests Michael Gurevich and Benjamin Marquise Gilmore.
This year the festival kicks off with a lunchtime concert in the beautifully intimate setting of St Lawrence Church where the Heath Quartet perform highly evocative works by Bartók and Mendelssohn. Don’t miss our pre-concert discussion on Friday evening on Schumann’s chamber music and book early for the Saturday late night concert as it is always a highlight.
Our commitment to education continues; you can hear the fruits of our outreach project on Friday lunchtime and see festival artists working with young ensembles in the masterclass on Sunday morning. So much to look forward to, we hope to see you at the festival!
